Ocean Air Art & Design is owned and operated by Ocean City, New Jersey artist Kevin R. Murphy. I've always had a special artistic talent. I put it to use in arts and crafts with my popular fence-post sculptures and other wooden decorations. After discovering versatility of the airbrush I started painting murals. It wasn't long before I was taking on commissioned works for homeowners and business owners in the area. I realized the potential and the increasing popularity of murals and took threw my hat over the fence. With a wife and two growing sons, I left my full time job in the Atlantic City casino industry and have been happily self-employed since 2000.
With growing requests for faux finishes and a ever present yearning to learn something new, I taught myself many techniques through extensive reading and experimentation in the studio. After numerous jobs and attendance at local seminars, I was asked to teach a class on faux finishes at The Noyes Museum in Smithville. Realizing the importance of keeping up with my education, led me to attend The Finishing School and become a licensed Faux EffectsTM Technician. I was also able to learn about many of the incredible new products and finishes available. Some of these included O'villa plaster, Lusterstone, Faux Tex and many others. I later attended The Faux School to further increase my knowledge and portfolio of finishes including Shimmerstone, Lime-based Venetian Plasters and imbedded stencils. With plans of continued education in the decorative arts, I strive to transform the ordinary living space into a place of beauty and tranquility with the latest and greatest finishes available.
